Coal Auger Sampling The need to collect representative samples of coal from situations where cumbersome mechanical samplers are not practical is met with Mineral Labs coal auger system. This patented unit has the primary cutter and crusher mounted on the auger head allowing it to return the reject back into the truck or railcar being sampled. The saved sample is returned by gravity to the auger cab. This system does not require conveyor belts, shaker tables, or carrousels, keeping it simple and allowing for single person operation. The operator can perform all his duties from inside an enclosed heated and air-conditioned cab. The size of the can is ample enough to install the weigh scale controls if needed. The system comes trailer-mounted for easy mobility, or can be mounted stationary on concrete piers. With fast cycle times of less than a minute, large numbers of trucks can be sampled in a normal shift. Mineral Labs has numerous units in the field at utilities, preparation plants, and barge load out facilities where sampler has become a valuable part of quality control.
